The Chrome extension keeps product analysis on the user’s device. The public website uses limited, cookieless analytics hosted by Makepad.
Information Fabric Lens processes
On supported Zara, H&M, Mango, Uniqlo, and COS pages, Fabric Lens may read the current page URL, retailer, product title, displayed price, product image URL, declared fiber composition, care instructions, structured product data, and product links shown on category pages. This retailer content and limited web-history information is used only for material analysis, care guidance, category quick picks, local organization, comparison, wear tracking, and cost-per-wear features requested by the user.
Fabric Lens does not read payment details, shopping-cart contents, passwords, form entries, precise location, contacts, or browsing on unsupported websites.
Storage and synchronization
Saved, recent, and tracked product snapshots are stored in chrome.storage.local on the user’s device. A snapshot can contain the normalized product URL, retailer, title, displayed price, image URL, composition, care text, expected wears, optional manual or purchase price, personal notes and tags, shopping status, optional purchase date, dated wear entries, and timestamps. Named shortlists and on-device wardrobe insights are also stored locally.
The five material preference weights, the user’s buy-bar threshold, and optional personal material and care rules are stored in chrome.storage.sync. Chrome may synchronize those small settings when Chrome Sync is enabled. Fabric Lens does not operate or control Chrome Sync.
Public website analytics
getfabriclens.com uses OpenPanel to measure page views, referring pages, campaign parameters, browser and device categories, broad geographic context derived by the analytics service, and clicks that leave for the Chrome Web Store. Analytics are sent to Makepad’s self-hosted instance at analytics.makepad.fr. They are separate from the Chrome extension and never include product pages viewed in Chrome, saved products, notes, preferences, or other extension storage.
The website does not identify visitors, enable session replay, use advertising pixels, or set marketing cookies. The analytics loader does not run when the browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track. The OpenPanel browser runtime is loaded from openpanel.dev with a fixed integrity check; event data is sent to the Makepad-hosted endpoint.
Retention and deletion
Recent products are limited to 20, saved products to 100, and named shortlists to 20. Users can delete an individual product, clear Recent while preserving saved or tracked items, or delete all local product data from Preferences. Users can export a JSON backup with optional synchronized settings and an insight snapshot, export a CSV, and restore a validated JSON backup. Removing Fabric Lens through Chrome deletes local extension storage. Chrome Sync settings can be cleared through Chrome’s sync controls.
Permissions
Fabric Lens uses Chrome’s side-panel, tabs, storage, and clipboard-write permissions. Host access is limited to supported Zara, H&M, shop.mango.com, www.uniqlo.com, and www.cos.com pages. These permissions support the features described above and are not used for unrelated browsing or tracking.
The use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
